The AOC, its history...
The AOC, Association Omnisport de Charsonville, was created on June 12, 1987.
In 1987, the elected officials of the municipality of Charsonville, with Mr. André Vivier as mayor, had a tennis court built; moreover, several tennis courts were built in the surrounding towns at the same time. Tennis was very popular at that time!
Mr. Vivier had invited the inhabitants of the town with the aim of creating a sports association that would manage the organization of tennis; 10 people had committed themselves.
The presidents : Benoît Dupuis from 1987 to 1989, Alain Fontaine from 1990 to 1991, Xavier Hubert from 1992 to 1998,
Hervé Mousset from 1999 to 2001, William Breton until 2021 and since then Stéphane Morain.
With tennis , the AOC experienced very rapid growth. Young people and adults from Charsonville participated extensively, and lessons were offered. The schedule was very full for playing, with 90 members! A tournament was organized in May/June, featuring some excellent finals for both young people and adults, with some very good players. The evenings ended with a barbecue or a meal in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
The pétanque tournaments : the first one took place in 1989/90 with 4 organizers; the finals between Charsonville residents were very popular, and the evenings were festive. These tournaments are still held and are still successful!
They also organised galette evenings with casino or board games.
An AOC day was organised with a hike in the area in the morning, a meal at midday and games in the afternoon, there were many participants.
From 1993 onwards , table tennis tournaments were organised with around 30 people.
A nature day was also organised in September.
In 2001, Sunday hikes were established with 25-30 members. Then, in 2012, Wednesday hikes and Nordic walking were added.
It should be noted that this section currently has 104 members !!!
