Main features:
Equipment :
A rectangular table (2.74 m long, 1.525 m wide, and 76 cm high).
A net that divides the table into two equal halves.
Wooden rackets (or paddles) covered with rubber.
A small, lightweight ball, usually made of plastic.
Rules :
During the serve, players must hit the ball so that it bounces on their own half of the table before going to their opponent's half and then directly onto the opponent's half of the table during the rally.
A point is scored when a player fails to return the ball or returns it off the table.
The game is often played to 3 or 4 sets, and a set is won by the first player to reach 11 points with a lead of 2 points.
Speed and reflexes:
Table tennis is known for its fast-paced rallies and the need for sharp reflexes. The balls can reach impressive speeds (record: 116 km/h) and the exchanges are often very quick.
Historical:
Table tennis originated in England in the late 19th century as a miniature version of tennis played indoors. The term "ping-pong" comes from the sound the ball makes as it bounces on the table and hits the paddles.
It is both a recreational and competitive sport, and it is very popular around the world, especially in China.

Le 6 et 7 juin aura lieux à Guilherand-Granges (07)
There was no training during the Christmas holidays.
For the third year running, we have organized five introductory and learning sessions for table tennis with the two classes in Charsonville, in collaboration with Ms. Méron (principal of the Charsonville school). Many thanks to Stéphane, Benoit, and Pierre-Yves for their commitment and availability.
These sessions were so appreciated, again this year, by the children and teachers that we have already made an appointment for 2026.
This initiation will take place on March 24 and 31, April 7 and 28 and May 5.
Plans are underway to purchase a new ping-pong table. A grant application will be sent to the CCTVL.
Regarding the passport implemented by the CAF (French Family Allowance Fund), there has been a change: they are now only issued to children aged 15 and over, and the cost has increased from €50 to €70. Four children from our club are affected.
