Pétanque
Pétanque is a French boules sport. Players throw metal boules towards a wooden jack, aiming to get as close to it as possible. Played singles, doubles, or triples, it is appreciated for its social aspect and is often played outdoors. Pétanque is also the setting for numerous competitions, both nationally and internationally.
The first pétanque competition took place in 1989/90 in Charsonville.
These competitions are still relevant and continue to be successful with many participants.
Two competitions are organized each year, one in May or June and the other in September.
The pétanque tournaments : the first one took place in 1989/90 with four organizers. The finals between Charsonville residents were very popular, and the evenings were a real party. These tournaments are still held and are still very popular! We also organized galette evenings with casino or board games. An AOC (Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée) day was organized with a hike in the area in the morning, lunch, and games in the afternoon; there were many participants.

Historical:
Pétanque originated in France, specifically in the Provence region. It was developed in the early 20th century, in 1907, in La Ciotat. The game is an evolution of boules, where players throw metal balls at a small wooden ball called the "cochonnet" (jack). Pétanque has become very popular in France and other countries, and is often played in parks and public spaces.
